Musical Notes

Kyron Bourke and his band – Paddy Craig (drums), Mateusz Hmmyeahlevysky, (guitars), Padraig Dooney (keyboards, sax, ewi) – will celebrate the late legendary Leonard Cohen with fresh rousing interpretations of some of his most memorable songs.

Dublin born and Belfast based, Bourke has been referred to here as ‘the broken city’s minstrel, an outsider telling tales in song of heartbreak, guilt and experience’. From an early age the young Bourke was drawn to the haunting lyrical beauty of Cohen’s work and remembers being completely hooked after his first stage appearance performing ‘One of Us Cannot Be Wrong’ at a school fundraiser.

Bourke will be performing a selection of the bard’s most loved classics, infusing them with his own special brand of loss and longing, as he too grapples with the weight of existential questions and channels the emotion through his inimitable ‘Cohenesque rasp’.
