Janey Mac is an improviser, stand-up comedian and writer from Belfast and Portstewart. Her show Janey Mac is Hot (Blame The Hormones) is inspired by her experience of starting perimenopause at 43 years old. The emotional rollercoaster of hot flushes, brain fog, and exhaustion challenged her ability to perform and work. Rather than stepping away from the stage, Janey turned her experience into a show that raises awareness, encourages compassion, and creates a space for laughter, community, and connection.
The entirely improvised show is packed with unpredictable twists and plenty of mischief.
About Jane:
In her late 30s, Janey decided to sign up for a stand-up comedy course. She wasn’t aiming for a career in comedy at the time. She simply wanted to do something that scared her. Since then, she has trained with The Free Association, Monkey Toast and Hoopla in London, as well as the world-renowned iO Theatre in Chicago. She now performs improv comedy regularly in Belfast and beyond.
The show was developed in partnership with Tinderbox Theatre and supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
