Our Festival Book Club is a crime thriller special, featuring recent publications from two of Ireland’s most prominent crime writers. Witness 8, the tenth novel from Belfast’s Steve Cavanagh, who has sold over one million copies of his books, is a pulsating legal thriller in which the sole witness to a murder begins her own deadly game. Galway born Michelle McDonagh’s bestselling second novel, Somebody Knows, is an addictive page-turner about dangerous secrets and the lengths some people go to keep them.

Discussing the two books are local crime writers Hannah King, whose second novel, The Blindspot, was published in March, and Gerard Brennan, author of five novels, including Drag, his most recent publication. Chairing the evening is Bangor-born Simon Maltman, author of several crime thrillers, including the Amazon bestselling HuntedThe panel will also be talking about their own writing, and examining why we’re so obsessed with crime fiction.

Witness 8 and Somebody Knows, along with Hanna King’s The Blindspot, are available to buy at Waterstones Bangor, Bloomfield Shopping Centre, at a special 10% festival discount on presentation of any Open House Festival 2025 ticket.

Please note this is a festival event and an Open House Festival Ticketsolve login will be required to be book tickets.
