A couple of years ago Peter Halsall brought his extensive record collection back home from London to Bangor. Running Free – Sounds along the Sea Wall 1966 is a hand-picked selection of tunes that conjure up memories of summer and Easter Holidays sitting on the sea wall listening to Radio Caroline and Luxembourg while the Winter Gardens, Barry’s, The Paladium, and Allport’s Arcade blasted out records from their jukeboxes. Everyone had their favourite perch and Peter’s was opposite the Mimba Milk Bar just before the Queen’s Court before heading off to The Red Rooster, The Focsle, The Crypt and The Electric Honeypot. Relive the soundtrack of 1966, American Soul, Tamla Motown and British Mod Bands including The Who, The Small Faces, and The Zombies. No Beatles and no Stones though… that’s a different story.
Slipped Disc Music Club – an initiative that gives a platform to the more seasoned members of our artistic community who are the backbone of the live music scene. Slipped Discs are DJ sets by local music enthusiasts – many of whom have never had the chance to share their extensive record collections before. Our DJs and producers are chosen for their knowledge and enthusiasm for music. We don’t tell them what to play and we support their ’no requests’ policy. These are the people who buy records, buy tickets for concerts, carry the songs and stories, and live and breathe music – they are the unsung heroes of the music industry.
