Boro is a traditional Japanese technique that originated from necessity, where fabrics were patched, mended, and stitched together to extend their life. This practice not only emphasises sustainability but also creates intricate and visually stunning designs. Boro embodies the philosophy of “mottainai”, meaning to waste nothing, and transforms worn textiles into treasured items. Using simple sashiko stitching, you will create several boro pieces from a mix of denim and various fabrics.
